Planning : Budget , props & costume

On Tuesday 16th October me and my group are going to spend the whole of our day off shopping for things we might need in our music video . As organisation is very important, in this post i'll be discussing how i plan to organise my budget which will have a knock on effect with the amount of props and costume we'll be able to purchase .



Budget : 

I'm planning to contribute £30 to the 'Music Video fund' and i believe my other group members are going to either match me on price or add as much as they can to the kitty. With the £30 i plan on adding  i really want to think of ways in which i can make the money stretch and use it effciently (as i doubt we'll use any of the items after the video)

1.  Go to cheap stores -  Shops like Primark is very useful to us as it's cheap and sell a range of clothing attire to shoes/handbags & accessories .
2. Lists -  a list is everyone's best friend and i'll make sure to have a very detailed list on things we need and how much we've spent thus far.
3. Look around house/Wardrobe - While planning on things we need i'll be sure to look around my house and search for anything that could possibly be used.

Props & Costume :

Here is an outfit i put together on what i believe would fit the brief , this outfit screens out bohemian ,vintage chic which our target audience is looking for . The long sleeved top has an old fashioned print on it and clearly covers the bust area . This is important as we don't want to use the 'Male gaze' in our video, we are trying to present our artist in a more sophisticated 'pretty girl' way.I chose this top mainly because of the print , as i'm inspired by Kate Nash who loves print i thought it would be a good way to incorporate her flavour. The skirt is loose however it does show a bit of leg which i plan on covering with a pair of tights. The reason being again , we don't really wanna show skin that much , the shoes are flat and edgy while the black hat and clock necklace completes the vintage look. I very much think it's the small details like necklaces and hair accessories that will shine out on camera and have our audience pick it out as something they would like.

This is what props i think we'll need in our music video , the retro old fashioned phone i would love to have included in the bedroom shots when our artist sings .... These props are different and bringing them into our music video will appeal to our wider and specific audience.

The chinese umbrella i can imagine being used in the boat scene , when we film in finsbury park . We might not see this commonly in indie pop videos but i think this is our chance for our artist to be quirky , different and original.

For a lot of items on here mainly including the accessories i have found on www.ebay.co.uk on this site you can find cheap , affordable items from all over the world . This is where i believe we can get those small details to add to our music video .
