While re-grouping in our media class i came up with an idea inspired by Alexandra Burke's video 'All night long' , in this music video she has people using camera's to record some footage . This technique we thought could be incorporated in our video to make it stand out and bring our storyline to life . However while browsing through youtube i found an even better example of a video that uses flip cameras.
In this music video Justin Bieber uses flip camera's to record himself throughout the majority of the music video , just like how i was envisaging for parts of my groups video. I believe by him doing so it makes this video stand out . i believe by having our artist 'Jessy May' record parts of herself through this way it's something that will make our video stand apart from others and make it a bit more personal for our audience. If she's in control of some shots this hopefully would make our audience feel like they're seeing things through her perspective .
What i haven't decided yet is whether in the shots where we use the flip camera should the artist lip sync or just show herself traveling . I'm swaying more to the 'showing her traveling' bit , by doing this we are giving the camera movement and adding depth (Amplification) to our already illustrative video. I was thinking of having our artist to record herself getting into an underground station and recording herself getting on a train . Our storyline is about a girl who's just broken up with her boyfriend and is spending the day enjoying/reflecting on her single status with a trip around London. The shots using the flip is to show the form of transport she's taking to get to her destinations.
At the bottom i created a slide show on slideRocket showing screen grabs from Alexandra burkes music video and Justin Bieber's video , the grabs are either of camera angles i like or showing how the artist uses the mini cameras. The one screen grab i like from Alexandra's video is the shot of her holding her flip camera while the Big camera records her doing so . I will definitely recommend using that shot in our music video . The screen grab of Justin is the angle i will hopefully try and achieve while getting in the station and on the train.
