Planning: Influencing Music Videos

Music Videos that has influenced final planning decisions

Whilst planning the video, some songs created have influence some of our ideas on the creation of our video. Three videos that have influenced me are:

Example- Kick Start

This video has influenced me as I really like the edits used in the video. These edits in particular are the different shots of the different feet tapping on the floor, the different shots of people, cut up to make one person and the split- screens used both horizontally and vertically. These shots have influence the edits we use in or video as it adds a movement to the song and looks quite skilful.

Lily Allen-LDN

This video has inspired the mise en scene of our video. Set in London, about London the locations shown in this video fit well with the lyrics and its message. The editing filter effects of the blur of colour, turning to grey as she walks past are also a nice touch to the video, which we could play around with when we start to edit our music video, in the up and coming stages.

Kate Nash- Foundations

This video is by the same artist that sings the song we are making the video for, Merry Happy. Kate Nash's song foundation is of inspiration as the mise en scene used is very original, a normal flat setting. The elements seen fit well with the song and at times these elements are illustrative to the song and its lyrics. The editing to the beat is also something we would like to include in our video too.

Altogether all these elements of Examples edits, Lily Allen's mise en scene and Kate Nash's mise en scene and edits to the beat, will influence our ideas when it comes to the actual creation and editing of our music video.
