Artist in mainstream is the most famous music artist this includes beyonce,Rhianna,Lil Wayne and Taylor swift, they are representing large organisation, which have a saturate market,








Another form of music industry is independent
"Independent music is music produced independently from major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, a process that may include an autonomous, Do-It-Yourself approach to recording and publishing. While the term indie is sometimes used as if it were a music genre, independent music artists do not fall into a single, defined musical style or genre and usually create music that can be categorized into other genres@

If the artist is apart of a record label then the owner will be the record label however if they are an independent artist then in a sense they  are their own owner

Sales are falling in the music industry, a decrease in sales equals to a decrease in profits, record labels are receiving less than they previously had, and this puts a strain on the music industry.

Changes in how we consumer music
There has been a change In the consumer behaviour  this has led to a change in how we consumer musics, we are now more active in our consumption of music also commercialisation of the Internet and the web. also people prefer singles than albums

illegal downloads are easy and cheap and it is growing daily, 1.2 billion illegal downloads were shown in the Uk in 2012 alone, these are usually done by youtube mp3 converter where the consumer will get a video on youtube and convert it into a mp3

Streaming- This allows music to be delivered on demand and these include sites that are free or paid by subscription
