Digipak is a patented style of compact disc or DVD packaging Digipak very similar to a classical CD, it has the size and the look of a CD, however a digipack is often made from paperstock. To hold the CD will be a plastic trey which would be glued. I decided to not just rely on what is taught on class and further my study on digipaks
Advantages of digipaks?
Digipaks are more economically friendly, it is recyclable which is more suitable to a eco friendly audience, by using paper and cardboard they are indirectly attracting a wider audience also a digipak can be made from recycled card
Normal CD jewels are very easy to break, after a few droppings the case will break which defers to from listening to the song also preventing you from by further CD's however with a Digipak due to it being made out of cardboard and paper it does not face the same problems a CD case will come across
Appeals to target audience, most artist like to put the message across that they love their fans and appreciate there support also they want their fans to feel a level of acceptance, by using a digipak it decreases the stigma of a celebrity being self centred and always trying to spend a lot of money on things, digipak are abit lower budget and appeals to more people simply because a wider audience are able to actually make a digipak themselves instead of a CD Case.
-On a display with a bunch of other CDs, the Digipak stands out. It's another way to get people to notice your CD over all others
-It weights about 75 % as much as a standard jewel case, so it does save some on shipping charges as well as energy to transport them
Disadvantages of Digipak-
Due to a digipak being made out of paper, it will be easily tear leading to people not wanting to purchase it, with the fear that it will tear
After a while the paper will begin to decay, leading to the digipak to become unattractive to the buyer. With CD cases when dirty you can wipe the case however with a digipak you can not
Digipaks have been heavily criticized as they are prone to deforming with the spines becoming unreadable

IMPAC Group, Inc. originally owned the Digipak trademark. That company was acquired by MeadWestvaco (MWV) in 2000 and folded into its AGI Media division. Following this acquisition, the Digipak name and designs were licensed to manufacturers around the world. MWV sold AGI Media to Atlas Holdings in 2010. In 2012, Atlas purchased Shorewood Packaging from International Paper and merged the two companies to create AGI-Shorewood
